Science Fair

Ben has been working really hard this week on his science fair project. He grew 4 types of crystals and some of them were finicky to grow. We spent a lot of time and had a lot of stops and starts and do-overs.

Yesterday we had to create the posterboard and I was having a really hard time getting him to focus and to dictate the information that was to go on the posterboard. He couldn't seem to remember anything and had nothing to say.

This morning we loaded up the car with all of the stuff and set up at the science fair. Ben was bubbling over with excitement. He did a fantastic job answering the questions by himself and even got upset when one of the parents asked me a question and I started answering. He said, "Mom. Stop! This is MY project!"

Once the Science Fair started each of the kids had to do a little presentation about their project. I was concerned (at his old school Ben had a very hard time with class presentations). It came his turn and 30-40 kids and adults were all looking at him. He stuttered through his first sentence and then pulled himself together and did an amazing job. He even told funny stories about some of the experiments that failed! Wow.
