My new best friend

I would like to introduce you to my new best friend...

It is an electric pressure cooker AND slow cooker. I have always been intrigued by pressure cookers but afraid of them, too. To my delight it is a snap to use and makes dinner insanely quickly... I've made: green pea risotto (10 minutes), beef stew (20 minutes), stock (20 minutes), and chicken stew (15 minutes). I used the absolute cheapest cut of meat I could find for the beef stew... something the kids and I would normally never eat... and it came out so tender that it falls apart! I have also used the slow cooker setting once to make a chicken vegetable soup that Nikki declared, "The best soup EVER!"

Thanks, Mom, for the early birthday present.

On another note... Ben is feeling better enough to be bored and cranky... but not better enough to do anything. So he is moping and whining all day. He is tired of listening to stories and watching TV but too sick to do a craft or draw.

That cooker looks very cool -- I'll have to look into that. I also like the slow cookers with an insert that can go on the stove, so you can brown the meat first without getting a pan dirty.

It actually has a browning function so you can brown right in the cooker!

That's some cooker. I've never seen those. My mother used a pressure cooker (on the stove burner)but I also was afraid of them.

I am glad to hear that it worked so well for you. Can not wait to taste dinner out of this machine.

Hey there,

I think I read about this PC on this blog:

Sounds fabulous and I think you'll like the blog as well. Now, if I could only get someone to lug one back from the US to Thailand!

SUYA! Hello!!
Hmm.. they might sell them in Thailand... Fagor is a fairly international company. And I think Zojirushi makes a version, too.

Sorry you've been so home bound and that Ben's sick! He sure is a well-behaved sick little boy... My kids are always only sick enough to be home, but not enough to just lay there... ARGH.

COOL gift from your mom!!!! I'm intrigued... Gosh, bet that would cost a couple hundred bucks here...
