Visiting our chaos...

When I was pregnant I took a back pain management class... which is where I met Kari. We got along and ended up in the same birthing class... then we gave birth within a week of each other. She took some time off of work while her daughter was young. So did I. Our husbands both worked long, late hours. We spend a lot of time together so our kids grew up like brother and sister. Most weeks we spent a day or sometimes even two together. We would spend the afternoon talking while the kids played and then make dinner and sometimes even bathe them together.

When her second child was born and he had colic I would hold him while she went grocery shopping so she could get a break. Moving away from her was the hardest part of leaving Michigan.

Somehow, despite how bad I am at keeping in touch with people, we have stayed close. We still talk on the phone. We even still get the kids together about once a year. She is the first person I call when I need to vent about the kids or Ian's long hours.

What amazes me is that the bond is as strong for the kids as it is for the grownups. They are so happy to see each other...

Loved the pictures from this post and the next of the kids all so darn happy. I'm sure you are, too! I'm trying to picture you hosting another family without a working kitchen, though! THAT is a sign of true friendship!!!
