Moving up in the ranks

Next week is Ben's last fencing class and he has been invited to join the intermediate/advanced class in the fall. To give him a taste of the next class, his teacher invited him to join the class on Thursday.
First he went through the footwork exercises with them.

Then he got to have his very first match against a fellow student. At first Ben was VERY nervous...

After a while he warmed up to it and actually got a couple of touches off of the other kids. He was bubbling over with excitement by the time the class was over. I have to get him his own helmet next year! Even the smallest ones the teaches has are so big on him that they slip down over his eyes as he fences.

On Saturday our pack had it's advancement ceremony. Here are Ben, Clifton, and Adam in their last few moments as Wolf Cubs...

And here is Ben becoming a Bear Cub....

Yeah Ben! It sounds like he in really enjoying the fencing and it's a sport that he can continue all his life.

Will you now be a Wolf leader?

I'll be the Wolf assistant leader... last year we combined dens so I ceded leadership to Brandon. :-) I like being assistant leader better.

The boys and I are looking forward to seeing the girls (and you) this summer!
