You know the saying... "If it's slimy it's biology. If it stinks, it's chemistry. If it doesn't work, it's physics."
We definitely find that to be true our house, at least one experiment we do each week doesn't quite work.
This week I found a really cool demonstration that is an optical illusion -- a conical shape appears to roll uphill. But, of course, for it to work you need to get the hill and cones right. I couldn't... so Ian stepped in to save the day:
And, sure enough, eventually we got an eye-popping demonstration -- the cone appears to roll uphill.
I have several books of physics experiments that I have bought, plus the physics text we are using, and I find that I turn to Liem's Invitation to Science Inquiry constantly. If you are a homeschooler and you don't have it, you need to download it now -- it's FREE.

And then painting it...

I'm sure Ben loves doing this type of hands-on experiments. What kid wouldn't?
