"Then what are THESE for?"

This morning I was reminded that kids experience life very differently.

Nikki, every morning, comes down with a pair of pants and a t-shirt; I have to bring the pants back up and get a pair of shorts. This morning I was explaining to him that we wear shorts and the shorts are in the next drawer. He looked at the drawer full of pants and said, "Then what are these for?!" in obvious exasperation. He couldn't understand why he had a drawer full of clothes he couldn't wear. I explained that those were for the fall and winter when it was cold.

Then it hit me.

He didn't remember fall or winter from last year, they were too long ago. As far as he could remember, it was hot and had always been hot so he had NO idea why he would own clothes that he could never wear!
