Weekend Whirlwind

We decided to take all of Saturday off and have fun!

Botanical Gardens
In the morning we went to the Botanical Gardens. The last couple of times we never made it further than the sprayscape so we decided to head straight back to the treehouse and see the whole kids garden.
Nikki loved the treehouse. He raced up and down the steps and had a great time on the slide. Ben moped. When I asked him , "What's wrong?" he said "This is not a tree house. Where is the tree house?" I said that this was the tree house. "No. This isn't a treehouse. A treehouse has a ladder!"

A quick tour of the butterfly and Peter Rabbit gardens and we headed back to the highlight of the park - the sprayscape. Even at 10:30 it was too hot to sit in the sun and plenty warm for the kids to spend an hour running through chilly water.

Emory Pool
After lunch and a nap we went to the Emory pool for a couple of hours. Ben is swimming really well -- he can almost swim the length of the pool. Nikki is starting to swim. He jumps off the side and swims to me under water!!
Sala
Swimming makes you HUNGRY so we decided to try Sala in the Highlands. It is an upscale mexican place that welcomes children (they have an informal kids menu). Nikki got a chicken taco that was made with their wood-fire grilled chicken and Ben ate a tostada that had real mexican cheese on it. Ian had tacos and I had enchiladas. The food was quite good, the atmosphere great - fancy without being fussy. We are definitely going back. The meat is cooked over wood and is smoky, the spicing is excellent, the drinks are great, and the food is not heavy. The cheeses are authentic. My only complaint is the salsa - surprisingly bland.

Sunday
Sunday Ian took the kids to the park while I cleaned the house.

In the afternoon, while the kids napped, I finally decided to tackle unpacking my studio. This was brought on by the need to do SOMETHING in the evening other than watch TV. Oh, and I promised Ms. M that I would sew little bags for kids who lose teeth in school so they can bring their teeth home.

You can see the challenge facing me! The problem with doing SO many different media is I have yarn, paper cutting supplies, paper making supplies, sewing supplies, beading supplies, stamp-making supplies, crocheting supplies, machine-knitting supplies, silk-dyeing supplies and weaving supplies. OH MY!
