This is the one I am most proud of. I think it really came out the best because I was not struggling with difficult threads. Quilted using cotton and rayon thread. Colord with Neocolor II wax pastels. Heat set with iron.
I absolutely love the way this square came out.
This was my block to work with 2 threads in one needle. The lines of quilting were done with rayon and holographic thread together (AWFUL to work with). The leaf was outlined using a twisted rayon and a plain rayon together. That actually worked surprisingly well and I might use it again for outlining.
The color comes from Pearl Ex fused onto fusible webbing.
The crane is pretty large (he takes up most of the square). You can see that I am finishing each square with an unraveled 'binding.' He is painted with fabric dye.
The straight stitching is metalic rayon and sliver. He is outlined in metalic rayon. The sliver was NOT fun to work with. I am not sure I would use it again.
The metallic rayon worked ok in straight lines but kept breaking when I tried to quilt with it so the echo quilting is done with regular rayon thread so I could keep my sanity.
