Field Day Blues

Field Day was Thursday. It rained. Geez... we are in the midst of a severe drought; we have a rainfall deficit of 16+ inches this year. Somehow it only rains when the school has festivals!

I showed up at the school at 8:15 and it was raining. They were discussing cancelling Field Day. Then at 8:50 they announced that they would be calling classes to the field between 9 and 9:15 so one of the parents read to the kids while we waited. At 9:05 we took a class picture to get the kids excited. 9:15... still no call. At 9:30 Ms. M sat the kids down and started working on math with them. It was 9:45 before we were finally lined up to go outside.

We got to go to a couple of stations (face painting, penny hunting, balloon popping) before the drizzle started up again, the thunder got loud, and the kids were herded back inside. Luckily there was pizza and cupcakes to look forward to. Ms. M decided that the day was shot anyway so the kids just watched a movie before lunch.

It was fun to go an watch the class. They had so much fun running around to the stations. Some of the kids got mustaches at the face painting station and it was hilarious!
