Visiting friends

We are back from a wonderful 2 days in Carrboro. We drove down on Friday; we arrived just as school was getting out so we picked up Avery. We spent a great afternoon with just the kids from the cul-de-sac playing and running around. Skyler kept dressing up Nikki... I just had to include a clip from the video...

My Tara
Tara and Gabe came over on Saturday afternoon. Nikki ran immediately up to Tara, wrapped his arms around her neck and said, "I miss you. I love you." Then he buried his face in her neck. It was one of those moments that feels sharp, and sweet, and bitterly painful all at once.

Mojitos, glowsticks, and tag
Renee invited our former neighbors and friends to her house for Mojitos and her famous strawberry cake. The grownups sat around, talked, drank, laughed. The kids raced around like maniacs. It felt so real and so perfect. Clara had some glow necklackes and the kids had a great time with those once it was dark. We all hung out until the kids were exhausted and cranky and falling over tired.

Returning Home
The return has been tough. Ben cried for 1/2 hour last night and then again this afternoon. He just wants to move back. Nikki talks about Skyler non-stop. I miss my friends and feel listless. I am having trouble forcing myself to prep for the scout meeting tomorrow, clean the house, and run our errands. Noone has school today so we are just sitting around and moping.

Hopefully you all will meet people through the neighborhood, school or Scouts and feel more welcome and settled.
