On a lighter note
On Friday we all went to the High Museum of Art. They had a fantastic family day - a dance party sponsored by radio Disney, art projects, a wandering Degas, spiked hot cocoa. Great stuff. We arrived in time for a family tour of the collection. The tour ended at a painting by Alfred Jensen. It is a giant abstract painting that stretches over most of a wall. The tour sat in front of the painting looking for patterns. When the tour was done Ben didn't want to leave. Gamma, Ted, Ian and Nik headed back down to the kids area while Ben and I sat and looked at the painting. Ben sat in absolute silence with a very serious expression on his face. I asked him what he was thinking and he said, "This painting inspires pictures of buildings in my head."I took out a piece of paper and he started drawing an abstract picture that was clearly influences by pieces of the painting. He sat for more than 30 minutes in absolute rapt concentration drawing from the painting.
