Dec 24 - Christmas Eve in Animal Kingdom

We spent Christmas Eve in Animal Kingdom. Rob and Carol (Jen's parents) joined us for they day.

We all went on the Kilimanjaro Safari together and then the big kids headed off to Expedition Everest and Dinosaur. The safari was really well done -- the animals are so used to visitors they come right up to the cars. Since it was so early in the morning all of the animals were active and we got to see everything. Even the lions were up and about.

My parents, the kids and I headed to the Dino Park. Ben, Nik and I rode Triceratops Spin and explored the Boneyard (a giant playground that looks like an archaeological dig).

We caught the first show of Finding Nemo Live. It was amazing. They use giant puppets like in Lion King. Somehow we managed to get seats in the the first row after the passageway so the puppets that came in from the sides of the theater passed right in front of us!

I really liked Animal Kingdom (it was our first visit). It gets crowded quickly, though so I am glad we got there when the park opened.

After naps we headed to Downtown Disney. We visited a Lego store that had a giant sea monster, Star Wars characters, and tourists all made of Legos. We had dinner reservations at Portabello Yacht Club so we sat and read Twas the Night Before Christmas while we waited for the whole party to arrive. The food was actually quite good and so was the service; a nice surprise after our awful dinner at Maya Grill the night before.
