Christmas Day: A Little Bit of Everything

On Christmas day we got to Magic Kingdom as it opened and rode the kiddie rides: Dumbo, the Carousel, Peter Pan, It's a Small World -- all by 8:30. The kids were astonished by Cinderella's castle. It was everything they had imagined and more.

Then we caught the monorail to the Grand Floridian. For years I have watched the special where they show the gingerbread house being built; it was SO amazing to see it in person. It is even bigger than I thought. The kids got to go inside and taste a sample. We all had a lovely Christmas brunch together.

At the advice of our waitress we headed to Epcot (Magic Kingdom was already at capacity and closed!). We went straight to the World Showcase and enjoyed a couple of hours together before the crowds arrived. Ben really enjoyed seeing Japan.

In the evening we went to MGM to see the lights. They had the NY City set lit with millions of lights that went on and off to Christmas music. They also had snow machines up on the roofs so it looked like it was snowing. A lovely ending to Christmas Day.
