Winter Fun

Last night we got almost a 1/2 inch of the snow. In Altanta that is the biggest news story imaginable; the news anchors spent the ENTIRE evening broadcast outside talking about the snow, making snowballs, and catching snowflakes. I am not kidding... the snow was the ONLY news they covered for the entire evening broadcast. The kids and dog kept going outside all evening. They had a blast throwing snowballs and running around. I couldn't get Nik to come inside even though he was FREEZING cold.

After several winters in the south, we just don't have any snow clothes. There are so few days when the temperature is below 40 during the day that we just don't bother to buy warm jackets, mittens, or hats! I sent the kids out in sweats and what would be considered light fall jackets in Michigan. Eventually I managed to hunt down 2 hats and 2 pairs of stretchy gloves -- the kind that soak through the minute you touch snow with them.

Unfortunately it rained all night and washed most of the snow away so the kids are terribly dissapointed this morning - no snow and they have to go to school. Yes, Mom, the kids want to go on a ski vacation next year! Maine sounds awfully cold, though. Couldn't we go on a ski vacation to Jamaica. LOL.

Well, there are some milder climates to ski in. The place we went in Austria is pretty mild in comparison to Maine.
