How did we get from Egypt to evolution?

Our chalk timeline is dissapearing. As we took our walk this morning we talked, again, about it. We joked about adding dinosaurs to the timeline and speculated that we might have to walk all the way back to our friend Laura's house before we got to dinosaurs. Suddenly Ben stopped and asked, "When did people appear?" Umm... well... they didn't exactly appear. So we talked about evolution and natural selection. And that we, apes, and monkeys may have shared a common ancestor. And that natural history is like a puzzle with missing pieces and scientist have to make guesses as to what the other pieces look like. And maybe someday we will find more pieces ...

So we started our walk in Egypt and ended with evolution...
