Sick and tired of being tired and sick...

I've been sick. For 6 weeks. Joint and muscle pain, no appetite, cranky digestive system, brain fog, weight loss, debilitating exhaustion. I was back at the doc today and we are on a 3rd round of blood tests. This time they took 11 vials to test for everything from Lymes to Lupus. Sigh.

I haven't really been blogging much about it because I kept hoping if I ignored it I would feel better. The ostrich approach. But, now, on week 7, I've realized I need to reorganize my life a bit for the near future and try to find how to cope instead of hoping that one morning I will wake up and I will feel better and be back to my old self. So I've hired part-time nannies for the next couple of weeks. This way the kids can start to have a bit more of a normal summer - trips to the park and pool instead of hours in front of the TV while I lie down. So that's my life.. :-)

What I like about my doc is she is energetic, takes me seriously, is willing to try a test I suggest (such as Lymes), and has a plan. First we are going to try this... then if we get nothing we are going to look at this other thing next. I won't get the results back for a week... so I'll let y'all know.

I imagine you've been tested for mono and fibromyalgia already.

I'm sorry that you are feeling so lousy. Hard to keep up with two children and a house when you are not well.

Mono yes. They did that one the first go-round. Fibromyalgia there is no test for... so they start looking at things like that when they exhaust all testable causes.

Oh, poor Katya! I°m so sorry you've been sick for so long. Here's hoping they figure this out and get you back to your young self in no time.

My mom in Italy has had a stroke and is in bad shape in the hospital. They don't know if she'll live for one more day or for 20 more years, but it doesn't look good right now. I'm heading over to Italy tomorrow to be with her and hope for the best.

Joe, I hope your mum gets back on her feet soon. Take care of yourself and eat some gelatto for me.
