Things I am afraid of...

Things I am afraid of includes Spiders and Poisonous Jellyfish.

My parent's basement has lots of the former and the beach near their house is covered with the latter. Eek. Lion's Mane Jelly fish. The edge of the water is thick with them.

Yesterday we went to the beach and played on the playground for a couple of hours. Once the kids were hot Ian and the boys went to go for a swim. As they were walking towards the water we overheard two women talking about how a couple of campers had been stung the previous day by the jellyfish... so we turned around and walked AWAY from the water. :-)

i've been swimming at that beach for years and never been stung... it's an urban myth. jellyfish don't exist.

It's been on the news constantly about all the jellyfish. Email me at home please as I want to take the girls to the beach on Sunday and if it's full of jellyfish, it would be a waste of time (and gas money). I remember getting them each August when I lived at the beach but it seems much worse now. The news was saying that they predict more next summer. Global warming?

I think it is supposed to be bad along the whole sound. We are going to the beach tomorrow morning so I will tell you more tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks Katya.

We were at the beach at low tide and the jellyfish weren't bad at all.

She is making it all up! ( except of the fact that we have more jellyfish this year than I have seen in 9 years here). We are swimming every day so far, and nobody stung anybody yet.

Nobody in OUR FAMILY... but I've seen other kids get stung each time we are there. Mostly when they try to pick them up with a shovel and then drop them on their legs.
Luckily only the first day was really bad -- the water was THICK with them. The rest of the time you can swim as long as you keep an eye peeled.
