Wolf Cubs, Boxball, and Flag Folding

Here's a picture from scouting last weekend... Ben using the flag as a napkin... ahem... Ben FOLDING the US flag. :-)

We had such a great time. We have a really huge den this year (18 boys) so we divide the boys into 3 groups for activities. One group went on a hike, one group learned to fold the flag, and one group played four-square and football. Then they switched. We ended with a BBQ and time on the playground.

Do you remember four-square? (AKA boxball). The rules are every bit as arcane and endlessly arguable as I remember from my childhood. When I was in 6th grade the rules became SO contentious that each class voted on one set of rules. Of course then we would argue about WHICH class' rules we would use.

Isn't it the best part, and you actually do not even have to be bothered with the ball?

I used the picture for my screen-saver -works very well, specially in less than 2 weeks before election.
