Train Sets and Cold Days

I woke up to a glorious morning -- the sun is bright and the birds are singing. It will be 65 today and almost 70 tomorrow; warmth is so welcome after this miserable week. This week temperatures got down into the teens at night. Our house is not insulated so it was bitterly cold in the house. This kind of cold spell VERY rarely happens in Atlanta: usually lows are in the 30's and highs in the 50's in January. Even in the afternoon it was so cold and windy that the boys were stuck inside. (We don't own warm clothes anymore.)

I brought down their old train set from the attic -- they had a blast setting up the train set in the living room every afternoon and playing with it.

They boys are all safely on the road. They arrived last night at their hotel, exhausted. My road reporter hoped to get them straight to bed but, "the helpful front desk guy thought they were cute and gave them 2 slices of pie... " :-) They should be arriving at Grandpa John's sometime this morning...

The sunny window on the floor looks very cozy.

It is. It's a favorite of all of ours... sometimes we sit on the floor there to do school, the dog lays in the sunny window patch all day, the kids prefer to play there. I would love to have a big, comfy chair right in the sun.

It is HOT today. It is already 64 -- I am sitting out in the sun in a t-shirt and shorts on the back porch.

I bought Katya the same wooden train some years back and it was enjoyed by both girls. Great toy.

I love train sets! I wish I had one. I suppose I could but until my boys move out there is really no place to set it up.

Katya, is that you in this photo? If so, you look different with long hair, though always pretty!
