For a while this week things kept getting worse...
First they found that the drywall/plaster/etc had issues and ALL had to be removed.
Then they found 2! more leaks -- so the roof has to be replaced.
Then they found that ALL of the electrical was not up to code.
So, in the end, we were left with a room that was stripped down to the studs...

Yesterday was the first day we finally saw forward progress instead of further demolition. The new wiring went in yesterday and today they are doing framing and drywall. HUZZAH! Forward progress feels good.

Guess you'll be getting a totally new kitchen, roof, walls and floor.
This is an awful lot of work... can I assume it's covered by your homeowner's insurance since it all started with a leak?
Nope. Homeowners will only cover the portion directly caused by the water damage -- which is a small portion of the overall cost.
The picture looks even more confusing than the previous "destruction" shots. Why is the window on the wrong wall?
Hope they will not find anything else that is wrong (not much left to the kitchen except of studs, hopefully they are ok).

That is the window above the kitchen sink.

Oh, my!! I can't even imagine what that's costing! OUCH!!!! Big hugs and here's to a FAST and successful finish!!!
You need to get away to visit Tami, Chris and the girls in Moscow!
You need a get-away to Moscow to visit Tami.
I wish. Between the kitchen and the roof we won't be taking any vacation this year. We may even be cutting back so much that we cut back cable, etc.
