Soccer

When my kids were younger I had lots of ideas and certainty about the rights and wrongs of parenting. I was sure that the right thing to do would be to have the kids involved in 1 sport and 1 art activity at a time. And they would not do any sports that required serious time commitments until they got older.

So here we are. Both boys are doing 2 sports this fall: soccer and gymnastics. Ben is doing a sport that requires 6 hour/wk commitment. Plus Ben is doing piano. And boy scouts. And he wants to try out to be an extra in a movie or play or opera. Oh well... it was much easier to have all the answers when they were younger...

Soccer started this week. Nikki is on a team with a classmate and a neighbor so he already knows 2 of the kids on his team. He is really excited about Tuesday practices... but he is even more excited about games.

Ben's is on a U10 team so the boys range in age from 8-10. He doesn't know any of the boys but they all seemed to mesh quickly at the first practice. The coach was great and put them through a lot of footwork and ball control exercises:

And what happened to Nicks left temple. Looks like an awful bruise on the picture.
