Our first day...

Once we got into the apartment yesterday, we realized that we were starving so we went to have our first meal -- sandwiches at a local shop (not mornay and minties, sorry). I was nervous about finding something to eat but the owner was helpful and I ordered a stuffed tomato. When we sat down to wait for our food Ben asked, "Mom, what's a tomato (pronounced toe-maaaah-toe)?" I laughed and answered, "It's Australian for tomato (pronounced toe-may-toe)".


After lunch we had to go clothes shopping for Ian. Our little apartment is right near a cute shopping district called Toorak so we took a tram down the road a bit and wandered around. Ian got a shirt, pants, and shoes and we took them next door to get the pants tailored. Clothes shopping with kids is not much fun even in the best of circumstances... keeping children well behaved in a fancy boutique when they are tired and cranky is a challenge of mammoth proportions!

I was pretty tired after dinner. How tired? I sat down on the couch to add a clock to my blog while Ian and Ben were taking showers. This is what they saw when they got out...

Yes, I am SOUND asleep with my fingers still on the keyboard. I think I was pretty tired, what do you think?


Morning came early thanks to my 7pm bed time. At 5 am this morning (it is Tuesday in Australia) I made all of the boys a traditional Australian breakfast of eggs, vegemite toast, and tomatoes (pronounced toe-maaaah-toe). The eggs look quite odd -- the yolks look peachy-orange but they taste exactly the same.
