What a week...

Sorry there have been no posts this week... but the power company accidentally cut our phone line on Monday... and we have been without phone and internet ALL WEEK. It should be back up by tomorrow night, but I am borrowing the neighbor's internet tonight to post this.

This has been an incredibly emotional week for us. It seems that no two members of the family are in the same emotional place at the same time.
Ben has gone from giddy excitement to being sad about leaving and crying at the drop of a hat. It finally hit him that he was leaving his friends, team mates, scout mates, and dog behind and the loss has been overwhelming.
Ian has finally had some time to process what is happening and is very excited about the trip.
I have gone from being excited to being completely overwhelmed. I sat in my car and cried because we ran out of bread to make sandwiches this afternoon.
Nik is Nik. Nik lives in the moment. His concerns are of the moment. Can I pick up this piece of junk I found and bring it? Can I store it in the attic till we come back? Will there be Halloween? Will there be TV?

Today we said goodbye to Shadow. He is going to a wonderful home with 3 loving children for the next 6 months so he will be spoiled and happy but Ben was heartbroken to have him go...

We went to soccer practice which was a disaster. Ben couldn't focus and he got hit right in the face with a ball... tomorrow he will have a back eye. What a week.

Ohhhhhh... Not easy at all!!!! Just think, though, this time next week you'll already be feeling settled there, unfettered by all the responsibilities of your house here... The kids will be having fun discovering their new city, and you, too...

That is ridiculous that it is taking so long to get the phone back up. Just what you needed in the midst of all the packing.

I'm sure it was very sad to say goodbye to Shadow and I'm sure he won't understand why he is going to the other family. He will have a good time with the 3 kids so you don't have to worry which is a relief.

I just can't image what your week is like.

Your mom and I have emailed this week about it.

Once you get on that plane, sit back and order a glass of wine and just relax as you fly off to your new adventure.

Bon Voyage!

Ouch on many counts. Maybe you should get a note from the soccer coach to show airport officials in Australia so they don't think you abuse your own child. OK, kidding...I think!

Bon voyage, sleep on the plane, give yourself about two weeks to get over the jetlag. Take it easy on yourselves at first.

We'll miss having you in the States but trust that you will continue to post frequently on your blog.

Kisses and hugs to the whole family.

Lots of love to you all! I think we may land in your front yard for a last picture opportunity :)

Your mom emailed me that she'd heard from you. Hope your luggage and you have been reunited.

Imagine you all are exhausted.
