Yesterday we had a wonderful Thanksgiving...
Our neighbors came over with some local wine and one of Ian's coworkers joined us. We ended up sitting and talking until almost midnight -- a lovely conversation about books, politics, health care, history, Michigan, and cultural differences.

Sounds like a good holiday. Did you buy a turkey or is that a big chicken?
It was a turkey... but it was quite different from a US turkey. The breasts were much smaller and the dark meat darker and gamier.
It was probably what is called here Heritage breed. Ours was like that too - very lean and mean looking bird. It looked more like wild ones we have outside, than like standard one in the supermarket.
Our tasted good too.
