Wavelength pt 1

We arrived in Cairns late on Saturday evening and got the kids to bed as quickly as we could -- our shuttle for Port Douglas picked us up at 6:40 on Sunday morning! After an hour long trip and a hour and a half delay because the ship had mechanical problems we were finally underway...

Wavelength is a pretty small boat. It only takes 30 snorkelers at a time out to 3 different locations on Opal and Tongue reefs. The boys hung out up top with the captain for the 1.5 hour ride out to the reef...

And enjoyed the wind in their hair...

Mom hung out on the prow in the rain, wind, and spray:

Unfortunately I was already feeling queasy from the bus ride to Port Douglas so the long, choppy ride out to the reef was miserable. When we got to the reef I was hoping I would feel better in the water -- I actually felt more sick snorkeling than on the boat. The day was a blur... luckily we had a rental camera and there was a photographer on board so we have tons of picture...

The professional photographer on the boat took it. :-)
