We're bad, BAD parents

We're bad, BAD parents
Ben FINALLY lost his other tooth -- you know the one. It has been loose since JUNE; we thought he would lose it in Shenandoah. Well I finally yanked it on Friday. Much jubilation ensued.

On Saturday morning I got up early to get to the scout training. As I was getting ready to make my coffee it hit me -- WE DIDN'T SNEAK UP AND PUT ANYTHING UNDER THE PILLOW! Oh NO. It was 7am. It was getting light. Ben would be up ANY second and we were about to get caught. I grabbed the treasure bag (a yellow stuff sack), put it in my back pocket, and s-n-u-c-k up the stairs. I was ALMOST at his pillow when I stepped on a board and creeakk. Heads popped up off of pillows. I was caught. I sat down next to Ben (being careful to sit on his pillow) pretending to kiss him goodbye. He opened his eyes wide and said, "I wonder what the tooth fairy brought me." "Oh, I think I sat on it. Here it is!" First problem solved... now what to do about the tooth.

While Ben was lost in wonder contemplating this tiny and yellow stuff sack, I quickly stuffed the ziploc with his tooth down the back of my shorts and scurried out of the room. Phew. That was close.

1 hour and 20 minutes
That was how long Ben's homework took this evening. Yiykes. He had to:
- Practice writing spelling words
- Do a 2 page math worksheet
- Read for 15 minutes (we read for 20)
- Start on a project
This project is very involved -- it is part of the class's discussion of community. Ben has to make a store. He has to cover a box with paper, make windows, put store items in the windows, and make a sign. Ben will be graded on neatness, the items in the windows, the sign, and how well Ben presents his project! We brainstormed what kind of store to make (a grocery store) and the store's name (Kroger).

What? No news of the weekend?
Well.. yes... I have nothing to post. I spent 8 hours on Saturday at Boyscout New Leader Training. Then we went to the park for the afternoon. On Sunday Ian and the boys biked to Stone Mountain from 9-4. I worked on organizing the neighborhood picnic; prepared the fall schedule for my boyscout troop and planned materials and games for our first meeting; and review what needed to be done for Field Day for Ben's class. So there is no news and no pics. Other than the fact that somehow I have already managed to over-extend myself. Help.
