Touring Atlanta

After waking up super early for the race Nikki was tired and cranky. Ben was feeling cranky and feverish. We decided to alter our Saturday plans and take my parents and the kids for a picnic to the park and then for a car tour of Atlanta.

We got sandwiches at Alon's (the Zingerman's of Atlanta) and then went to John Howell for picnic and some play time. Once the kids had a chance to play a little we put everyone in the car and went for a drive.

We stopped near Ian's building to take a walk so we headed up for the views. Ian works high up in one of the tallest buildings so the views from his office are fantastic. The kids love being up there because they can see airplanes circling the city at eye-level.

After looking in every direction we walked over to the Fox Theater. There was a performance starting in an hour so we peeked in the doors. One of the women who was taking tickets gave us an impromptu tour of the theater. It is beautiful on the outside but it is INCREDIBLE on the inside. The ceiling has stars and clouds and the upper deck looks like there is a tent over it. Words can't describe how breathtakingly beautiful it is in there. I think we will have to get tickets for something just to sit in the theater!
After touring the city a little more we headed home. Ben was running a fever by the time we got home so he cuddled on the couch while we hung out, had afternoon cocktails, and made dinner.
Sour Cherry Margaritas (serves 4)
Juice of 2 limes and 1 lemon (about 4 oz)
1 oz simple syrup
4 oz tequila
2 oz triple sec
1/2 oz (or more to taste) Sour Cherry Syrup
Serve on the rocks in a narrow glass. Sip slowly while sitting on the porch watching the world go by and talking about nothing in particular.
